Chapter 11
Back at Soapy’s, people were celebrating this time with hot toddies, cold beers, or Irish coffees. Dani and Kei passed out some of the cookies that Eddy had tossed their way.
Riley laughed when she saw them. “Oh my God, I can’t believe he kept these.”
Kei laughed, “Right? That man has serious, serious commitment skills.”
“He’d have to, being married to Loubelle,” Dani said with a snort. Then her face turned thoughtful, “I never imagined I’d ever respect Eddy as much as I do in this moment.”
Ben thought that even though this was a weird situation, and Eddy had been on the opposite side of everybody else, it was still kind of a weird type of bonding moment between Dani and Eddy. He’d have to spend some time thinking about that.
“So what? We were just a distraction?” Ben asked.
Riley smiled. “Pretty much. I don’t know who exactly turned out the lights. That’s still a secret. But they turned the lights out and now they’re back on.”
Riley gave him a kiss. “Welcome to the town.”
Dani gave him a playful shove. “Yeah, you’re no longer a newbie. You’re fully christened now.”
“Any more secrets?” Ben asked.
The women exchanged some looks.
Riley looked at him with a raised eyebrow and said, “Unity Falls is always full of surprises.”
